INTERMITTENT FASTING

Intermittent fasting means that you don't eat for a period of time each day or week. It refers to voluntarily restricting eating hours or meal times to boost health. For an instance, average person usually eat meals and snacks for 13 hours and nothing for about 11 hours. Intermittent fasting just doubles this like by 16 hours of fasting and 8 hours of eating. One popular method is 16 hours of fasting and 8 hours of eating. This is called 16:8 method. Another popular method is 5:2 method means eating normal diet for five days a week and fasting for two days or consuming only 500-600 calories for two non-consecutive days of the week.  


Why Intermittent Fasting ?

Tips to follow during Intermittent Fasting :

·       Stay hydrated during fasting.

·        Consume coffee, tea and other non -caloric beverages without sugar.

·       Consume foods  high in fiber, vitamins and minerals in eating windows.

·       Must chew the food properly.

·        IF can be harmful if you follow calorie deficit diet.

·       Stick to fruits, proteins, vegetables.

·       Avoid processed foods.

 Avoid Intermittent Fasting in following cases:

  • Diabetic patients  should avoid IF.
  • Pregnant women should avoid IF
  • Underweight people should avoid IF
